a noob question about professions
i am a warrior class and i get to have another profession. witch one should i choose to go along with my class. thank you

You are given the oppurtunity to "borrow" the skills from each profession and try them out, so do that, then decide what works best with your playstyle. Warriors can usually manage fine without using their secondary profession at all.

At a later point you the game, you are also allowed to change your secondary profession. So in the long run, the choice you currently make is of little importance. So as suggested, choose the one the best fits you as you are now.

if u started in prophecies and want to make it easy on urself to ascend...
go for necro or mesmer to super easily do the doppleganger mission (ascension mission) as was stated earlier a warrior can do just fine without a secondary just my opinion if u made in another game... factions or nightfall go for monk or ranger or possibly ritualist |

Technically while you need to have 2 professions, you don't have to use your secondary profession at all. I don't usually use mine since I don't see a need for it and usually don't have the points to spec over.
For now, I'd say pic something you think will be useful in the future, since when you start going on skill quests you will unlock skills of that secondary profession. Remember, when you learn these skills they are UNLOCKED, so if you create a PvP character they can use them right away and heros too (when you get them). IMO I think you should go for /Monk to get familiar with different skills for healing (even though warriors can take a lot of damage they do need heals too) and when you get a Monk it will be ready for more than basic customization, or Necromancer (they have a lot of anti-warrior stuff which may be used against you, so best to learn it now so you can think of ways to counter it or realize what is going on). You could become a Wammo, attempting to damage and heal OTHERS at the same time. Maybe a heal or two for you, but Warriors don't have a ton of energy or energy regeneration. If you want to go the versatile role, probably Ritualist/Elementalist/Paragon. Last edited by refer; Jul 25, 2009 at 08:32 AM // 08:32.. |

I somehow beat mine as a straight Mesmer in less than 10 seconds... not kidding at all, hung in by skin of teeth but it was the most anti-climatic thing I've had in videogames for a long time. I couldn't' believe how fast it was.

Why do people always suggest /mo for wars? I can see warriors wanting a condition removal, but then they might as well go for plague touch or antidote signet. Healing yourself is generally a bad move, especially on a warrior. To the OP, there are many warrior builds that utilize a second profession. If you want something a little bit more offensive, go with elementalist. If you want something more defensive go necro or ranger.

I've never been called a bozo before. Honestly, you just can't trust sensible people, they spoil a perfectly good rant every time with their blasted logic!
But seriously, yes there's an advantage to going /Mo so you can have a hard (reusable) res, but if you're going to do that then please do read the skill descriptions carefully and work out when good and bad times to use each of the various res skills will be. There's a few of them that really shouldn't be used during combat (resurrect on a monk who's died within range of several enemies, for instance!) - you can cause more problems than you solve by using the wrong one at the wrong time. Given the energy cost and the casting time and the fixing of one's secondary class, personally I'm more in favour of res sig than hard res on a warrior, depending on who else is in your party and what level you are, but that's probably a whole 'nother thread in itself. |
